Station Area Planning Study

Below are the Final Report and Appendices for the Station Area Planning Study.  This is an analysis of redevelopment opportunities in downtown Fox River Grove including conceptual land use designs and implementation strategies.  Funded in large part by a grant from the Regional Transportation Authority, it focuses on redeveloping the area based on the commuter traffic generated by the Metra train station and U.S. Route 14.   Begun in October 2001 and completed in December 2003, it is the product of extensive land use, transportation, and market research; public input; and numerous refinements by the project team.

As a conceptual study, it is not a blueprint that dictates how the downtown will be developed but a tool to attract specific proposals from developers.  The village is open to various combinations of mixed uses in locations other than as shown in the study.  These proposals will in turn be reviewed according to Village codes and regulations for discussion at public meetings.  Our goal is to promote the economic well-being of the community while enhancing our small-town charm.
