ANNUAL CAR SHOW - JUNE 12TH

NEW PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY

The Village of Fox River Grove needs a new Public Works Facility.  (See the site plan below.)  The current facility is in very poor condition, is too small, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is going to require it be moved from the site it shares with the wastewater treatment plant so new treatment facilities can be added to the plant.  Exactly when in the next few years the move will be required is uncertain but when it does, the Village will have 2-3 years to comply.  We have been preparing for this for many years because of our scarcity of land and money.  A thorough space needs analysis and site search were conducted, property purchased along County Line Road off Rt. 22, design alternatives were explored, financing methods examined, and outsourcing of some public works functions evaluated.  Finances allow only the Vehicle Storage Facility to be built at this time.  The estimated cost is $2.8M - $3.5M.  A new Office and Repair Facility will have to wait.  To take advantage of historically low interest rates and construction costs, we hope to secure debt financing shortly.   The debt service would be paid principally with revenues generated by water and sewer rates.  (Note that approximately 20% of these revenues are generated by customers outside the Village.)   The architect will then be commissioned to draw the plans, the construction work will be bid, and we hope to build this summer.

The Public Works Department provides functions essential to maintaining the infrastructure of this community -- and so the value of all its homes and businesses.  Without good streets, parks, and clean water none of us could live here.  These aren’t possible without the people, equipment, vehicles, and buildings these operations require.

For additional information, see our meeting minutes on this website or feel free to call Village Hall anytime with questions or suggestions.

The hand delivery of questionnaires and household contacts in our area will begin the week of February 22, 2010. The United States Census Bureau will be making household contacts through late August to deliver some questionnaires, collect information from those who have not returned questionnaires and verify addresses.

All United States Census Bureau employees will have identification cards from the United States Department of Commerce or the United States Census Bureau. The Fox River Grove Police Department has the ability to verify all United States Census employees.  Additional information regarding the 2010 Decennial Census can be found by visiting http://2010.census.gov/2010census/
