NEW POLICE DEPARTMENT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM The Fox River Grove Police Department is starting a new Community E-Mail Notification System.  We are no longer part of NIXLE and if you were previously signed up for NIXLE, you are no longer receiving notifications from Fox River Grove and will need to sign up for this new Community E-Mail system. The new system will keep residents informed of important public safety notifications via e-mail only.  This is a free program.  To sign up, fill out the form to receive e-mails from the Police Department only.

FREE YARDWASTE PICKUP

Friday, May 4th and Friday May 11th will be free yardwaste pickup days in the Village.  No stickers will be needed.  Yardwaste must be placed at the curb/right of way in brown kraft bags.

PARKS COMMISSION MEETING

NOTICE is hereby given that the PARKS COMMISSION meeting scheduled for Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Village Hall, 305 Illinois Street, Fox River Grove, has been cancelled.  The meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, May 16, 2012.   ______________________________________________________________________________ 

MANDATORY ELECTRONICS RECYCLING
Beginning January 1, 2012, the Illinois Electronic Products Recycling and Reuse Act took effect.  The disposal of computers, monitors, televisions, printers and other electronic devices are now banned from Illinois landfills.  This new state law requires electronics to be recycled by a registered collector, recycler or manufacturer.  Waste Management will continue to pick up regular waste and recycling, but will no longer pick up electronics.  Click here for Electronics Disposal Options.

Help Us Honor the Local Men and Women
of our Armed Forces Currently Serving Our Country

The American Legion of Fox River Grove and the Village of Fox River Grove would like to recognize and honor the members of the Armed Forces from our community that are now serving our country. There is a display case at the Village Hall to honor these individuals and to inform the community of their ongoing service. NEW PUBLIC WORKS FACILITY

The Village of Fox River Grove is building a new Public Works Facility along County Line Road behind the Fox Glen Professional Offices on Route 22.  The Public Works Department provides functions essential to maintaining the infrastructure of this community -- and so the value of all its homes and businesses.  Without good streets, parks, and clean water none of us could live here.  These aren’t possible without the people, equipment, vehicles, and buildings these operations require.  The current facility is in very poor condition, is too small, and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency is going to require it be moved from the site it shares with the wastewater treatment plant so new treatment facilities can be added to the plant.  Exactly when in the next few years the move will be required is uncertain but when it does, the Village will have 2-3 years to comply.  We have been preparing for this for many years   A thorough space needs analysis and site search were conducted, property purchased, design alternatives were explored, financing methods examined, and outsourcing of some public works functions evaluated.  Finances allow only the Vehicle Storage Facility to be built at this time.  The estimated cost is $3M.  A new Office and Repair Bays will be considered in the future as funding allows.  The facility will be financed by a low interest government debt program to take advantage of historically low construction costs.  The debt will be paid principally with revenues generated by water and sewer rates.  (Note that approximately 20% of these revenues are generated by customers outside the Village.)

BATTERY RECYCLING

There is now a battery collection bin located at the Village Hall that will take the following:

Dry Cell Alkaline (AAA, AA, C, D, 9 Volt & Lantern), Cadmuim, Iron,

Magnesium, Mercury, Nickel Metal Hydride, Silver, Zinc Carbon

No industrial, lithium, lead acid or wet cell batteries will be accepted.

Rechargeable batteries can be dropped off at Best Buy, Ace Hardware, Home Depot for recycling

Please put a piece of tape over the positive terminal of the batteries before dropping them off.
