Mission Statement

Maintain public facilities including buildings, right of ways, parks, roads, storm drains, trees, vehicles, and parking lots in a safe, cost-effective and customer friendly manner.  Provide services for scheduled community events.

            Storm Drainage - 559 Structures, 9.8 miles

            Parks - 16 Parks, 130 Acres

            Vehicles and Equipment - 80

            Five full time employees including Superintendent

            Four seasonal employees

            Community service workers

Functional Areas

·        Streets:

Patching/paving, snow & ice, cleaning, road program, crack seal, striping and curbs.

·        Signs:

Repair, inventory, and installation

·        Street Lights:

Maintenance, inventory & upgrade, ComEd liaison.

·        Storm Drainage:

Cleaning, ditching, installation, culvert replacement/improvement, retention and detention areas.

·        Sidewalk:

      50/50 program, snow removal, inventory

·        Parkway:

Tree pruning, inventory, removal and IDNR Grants.  Monthly Chipping, Christmas tree recycling, storm clean up and mowing.

·        Parks:

      Maintain, inspections, repairs, grants, improvements, volunteer groups, creeks and ponds.

·        Building:

      Cleaning, preventative maintenance, improvements, meeting set-up, fire alarm system, fire  extinguishers, elevator inspection and generator maintenance.

·        Vehicles and Equipment:

Maintain, preventive maintenance, welding, paint and minor body work.

·        Commuter & Metra Lots:

Pavement maintenance, snow removal, signs, lights, sidewalk, drop box/shelters and striping.

·        Downtown Decorations:

Flags & banners, holiday decorations and planters.

·        Additional Projects:

Kimball Hill Homes, Maplewood Meadows, Norge Woods, Grants, Community Gardens, and Route 22 Improvements.

·        Unscheduled Projects:

      School Dist. #3, Jaycees, Scouts and Harbor Team projects.

·        Attend all Public Works Committee meetings.

·        Budget preparation and monitoring.

·        Special Events
